Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Jamie Vardy, Diego Costa or Alexis Sanchez – who will be the 2016/17 top scorer?
As we prepare for the start of the new season we look at the key contenders including Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the 2016/17 Golden Boot.
Agüero once again showed his class last season – he finished with 24 goals in his multi-coloured Puma evoSpeed boots.
Since signing for City in 2011 for £38 million the Argentine has scored 102 goals in 132 starts – he is still most famous for his late winner against QPR which snatched the title from arch rivals Manchester United.
Last season was his second best tally since moving to English football and with him now playing under Pep Guardiola he could well have his best season ever!
For Aguero to finish top scorer he is 7/2.
Kane had an excellent 2015/16 scoring 25 goals whilst wearing his Nike Hypervenom Phinish for Tottenham but as the season came to disappointing end for the North London club he looked very tired.
Euro 2016 was his chance to show off his quality on a bigger stage but unfortunately he failed to impress for the Three Lions.
He started the season slowly only scoring his first goal at the end of September in Spurs’ 4-1 win against Manchester City but at the end of October he scored a hat-trick against Bournemouth and went on a run of six goals in four games.
Kane’s last Premier League game came against Chelsea during the game that ended Tottenham’s title chase.
He is 7s to repeat his personal success this season.
For years Premier League fans have wanted Zlatan – there will be some who will hate him as he’s going to be wearing a United shirt and playing for Jose Mourinho but even if you are a ‘hater’ then you must be excited to see him finally in England!
Whilst the French League is not the quality of the Premier League his record of 113 goals in 117 games is incredible!
Despite not scoring in his first four game for PSG last season he still finished the season with 38 goals in 31 league games.
To finish top scorer he is 9s.
The 2015/16 season saw Vardy help Leicester City win the Premier League title and he also finished joint second leading scorer with Aguero on 24 goals.
The ex-Halifax and Fleetwood striker has really had an incredible few years especially considering in 2011/12 he was playing in the Conference Premier and June 2010 he was signed for Halifax for just £15000.
All eyes will be on Vardy to see if he can follow last season’s success or if he will turn out to be a one season wonder – in 2014/15 he only scored five times in 37 games.
You can get 18s for him to win the Golden Boot.
The 27-year-old Brazilian born Spaniard is not liked by most but when he is on form he’s unstoppable – in his debut season he scored 21 in 39 games which helped Chelsea to win the league.
He got off to an excellent start to his life in London with seven goals in his first four matches.
Unfortunately his second season wasn’t so good and he struggled for form and whilst it was seen as an unsuccessful year he still scored 16 times and made 11 assists.
With Antonio Conte at the helm the Blues are likely to be strong at the back but once not the biggest scorers.
Costa is 20s to finish the number one scorer.
Some of the other key men who are in the running for the Golden Boot are Romelu Lukaku (14s), Alexis Sanchez (25s), Daniel Sturridge (25s), Oliver Giroud (25s) and Wayne Rooney (45s).
