Divoom Voombox Travel Speaker

Updated: August 1, 2014

In the world of portable speakers, there are three key boxes to tick. How good is the music quality? How small is it? And is it durable?

For the Voombox’s £50 price tag it certainly ticks all three boxes without any major drawbacks. The music quality, clarity and in particular, the volume, is remarkable. 20 seconds of AC/DC at maximum volume is enough for anyone’s ears in a small office space. With this in mind, the product must not end up in the wrong hands. A teenager sat at the back of a bus with dubstep and a voombox could be catastrophic.

Size wise, think of a hockey puck, although, at 2.72 kg it is considerably heavier. Due to its circular shape it can be chucked in the back of any bag and there is a nifty clip so it can be attached to backpacks and tents. The design is simple and has all the necessary buttons for power on/off, speakerphone, volume control and a micro USB port.

The durability of the product is certainly its best selling feature. With extreme sports in mind, the metal body and shock absorbing rubber shell allows you to be confident on the most adrenaline fuelled adventure. In fact, it would probably survive being launched out of a moving bus. Unfortunately.

The Voombox can be used at BBQs, beach parties, festivals and for extreme sports. Bluetooth enables it to sync with all smart phone devices and it has a talk time of up to six hours. In a world where headphones could set you back £300, why not pick up a Voombox and blast your favourite tunes out loud?
